Beth yw Penglog?

Allfa (outlet, diolch Google Translate) yw Penglog i fy ngwaith creadigol. Rhywle i bostio'r pethe dwi'n creu ar fy nhaith i fod yn berson sy'n creu eto.

Pam neud hwn?

Dwi wedi bod yn dylunio pethe ers fy arddegau. Nes i astudio Graphic Design ym mhrifysgol Brighton, lle nes i ddysgu am ddulliau printio traddodiadol gwahanol. Er do' ni ddim yn rhy dda yn cyrraedd deadlines neu ymateb i briffs, o ni'n caru'r amser odd gyda fi i arbrofi a dysgu.

Ers cael swydd llawn amser, dwi'n ffeindio fe'n incredibly anodd i ffeindio digon o amser i ddylunio, creu ag arbrofi a gyda hwnna, dwi'n ffeindio fy hun yn llai brwdfrydig i fod yn greadigol.

Felly Penglog yw esgus fi i greu pethe heb brief, creu pethe arbrofol, creu pethe sy'n hwyl i helpu fi i ffeindio brwdfrydedd i greu ag i arbrofi eto.

Screeprintio oedd un o'r pethe nes i wirioni ar yn y brifysgol. Dull printio sy'n hollol ddelfrydol ar gyfer collages ag arbrofi. Es i 3 mlynedd ar ol prifysgol heb gyffwrdd a squeegee nag ink messy. I gwympo mewn cariad gyda fe eto, nes i ymuno a'r Printhaus yn Nhreganna, stiwdio screenprintio DIY ar gyfer artistiaid lleol a dwi methu rhoi mewn geirie faint ma'r lle wedi helpu fi.

Ateb byr: Fi moyn arbrofi mwy a fi moyn cwympo mewn cariad gyda creu pethe eto.

Llun crap o'r Printhaus

Llun crap o'r Printhaus

Pam Penglog?

Nes i sylwi bod y llythyren P yn edrych fel darlun minimal o benglog a meddwl i fy hun, fyse logo sy'n edrych fel penglog a'r llythyren P yn wych ar gyfer cwmni o'r enw Penglog. Nes i feddwl am y logo cyn gwbod be o ni am neud gyda fe.

Gweld?

Gweld?

Nes 'di bostio am hwn nol yn Ionawr (7 mis yn ol). Pam nath e' gymryd mor hir i ti lansio?

Dwi'n really ddiog ag yn hoffi gor-feddwl pethe.

Beth Sydd Ar Y Gweill?

Lot mwy o grysau-t, lot mwy o screenprinted collages, mwy o fan art weird ag obscure, zines a gobeithio projects cydweithredol gyda pobol sydd moyn gweithio gyda fi.

Diolch!

P.S. Buy my shit fan hyn.

What’s Penglog?

Penglog is my outlet for my creative projects. Somewhere to post the things I make on my journey to becoming a maker again.

Why are you doing this?

I’ve been designing things since my teens. I studied graphic Design at the University Of Brighton where I got to use loads of old printing methods. I wasn’t great with keeping to deadlines or responding to briefs, bt I loved the time I had to experiment and learn new techniques.

Since getting a full time job, I find it incredibly difficult to find time to stay creative and to keep making things and put time into silly ideas and with that, I’ve found it difficult to be enthusiastic about any work I get offered.

So Penglog is my excuse to create things without a brief, to experiment, make fun things to help me fin d my enthusiasm for creating and experimenting again.

Screenprinting was the one thing that I fell in love with at university. A printing technique that was ideal for my style of layering and collaging imagery. After university, I went 3 years without touching a squeegee or getting my hands dirty in ink. To fall back in love with it again, I joined Canton’s DIY screenprinting studio, The Printhaus. I can’t put into words how much they’ve helped me.

Short answer: I wanted to experiment more and I want to restore my love for making things again.

Why Penglog?

Penglog is Welsh for skull. I realised that the letter P looks like a minimal illustration of a skull (portrait view) and I thought that it would be cool if a brand was called Penglog with the logo looking like both a P (for Penglog) and a skull. So I thought of the logo before I knew what I’d do with it.

You posted about this back in January (about 7 months ago now). Why did it take so long?

I’m lazy and like to over-think things.

What’s the plan now?

I’m going to be making more screenprinted collages, T-shirts, weird and obscure fan art, zines and hopefully work with other makers.

Diolch!

P.S. Buy my shit here.
